FENATI MANTIENE IL SECONDO POSTO NELLA CLASSIFICA PILOTI DEL MONDIALE MOTO3

Assen (Olanda), 28 giugno 2014. Gara dalle emozioni forti in Moto3 sul circuito di Assen, caratterizzata dalle molte cadute in pista. A farne le spese sono anche i piloti dello Sky Racing Team VR46, protagonisti nel bene e nel male di una delle corse più imprevedibili della stagione.

Nel warm up, una sfortunata scivolata mette subito fuori gioco Francesco Bagnaia, costringendolo al ritiro anticipato dalla gara. Per lui una microfrattura composta al radio del polso sinistro che non compromette però la sua partecipazione al Sachsenring, nel prossimo Gp di Germania.

Anche la corsa di Romano Fenati è condizionata da continui colpi di scena. Partito dalla terza fila, il pilota ascolano si ritrova presto in coda alla gara per evitare al primo giro un contatto con Masbou.

Dalla 31^posizione, grazie a uno strepitoso passo gara, Romano recupera in fretta il terreno perduto fino a raggiungere stabilmente il gruppo dei primi dieci, facendo registrare anche il tempo più veloce in 1’42.914 al dodicesimo giro. Ma una caduta poco più tardi, a otto giri dalla fine, lo costringe a una nuova rimonta che si conclude con il 18° posto conclusivo, con il tempo di 38’36.986.

Romano Fenati mantiene comunque la seconda posizione nella classifica piloti del Mondiale di Moto3, a pari punti con Alex Marquez, al secondo successo di fila dopo la vittoria in Catalogna. Il ritiro di Jack Miller lascia infatti invariato il distacco dalla testa: l’australiano conduce sempre con 117 punti, seguito da Fenati e Marquez a quota 110.

ROMANO FENATI

“Nel primo giro sono andato lungo all’ultima S, ho frenato quando ero già troppo avanti e per non prendere Masbou, perché non mi sembrava molto carino buttarlo giù al primo giro (sorride, ndr), sono dovuto andare largo. Così, mi sono ritrovato 31° ed è stata da subito una gara in salita, sono arrivato nel gruppo dei primi, ma forse per la troppa foga ho commesso un errore. Avrei potuto rallentare un attimo e rimanere un po’ più a lungo nella lotta, per poi continuare a fare il mio passo. Mi sono scusato con tutta la squadra perché loro hanno fatto un buon lavoro. Purtroppo la caduta mi ha costretto a una nuova rimonta. Ho perso anche la pedana e questo mi ha costretto a guidare strisciando la coscia a terra, perché non sapevo dove metterla. Ora guardiamo avanti. Tutto il campionato sarà una lotta serratissima, ci saranno volte in cui vinceranno gli altri e altre in cui vinceremo noi. Speriamo siano più quelle in cui vinceremo noi (sorride, ndr). Adesso ci attende il Sachsenring, una pista che mi piace molto, molto bella e molto tecnica. Speriamo di fare una buona gara li’, anche per provare a guadagnare punti sui diretti rivali”.

FRANCESCO BAGNAIA

“Questa mattina è andata un po’ così e così. Nel warm up ho fatto un errore, non ho visto che la pista era bagnata per terra e ho provato a spingere lo stesso. Non ero piegatissimo e quindi non mi sono neanche reso conto quando la moto mi è partita. Una volta caduto per terra ho sentito che mi ero anche fatto male. Per fortuna niente di grave. Purtroppo sono cose che possono succedere e che fanno parte di questo sport. Mi è dispiaciuto molto non far parte della gara. E’ stata una gara strana, caratterizzata da molte cadute. Romano è stato sfortunato al primo giro, perché aveva un passo gara che faceva paura. Penso che avrebbe potuto fare veramente molto bene”.

VITTORIANO GUARESCHI

“E’ stata una giornata veramente sfortunata per lo Sky Racing Team VR46, con entrambi i nostri piloti rimasti a secco di punti. Abbiamo perso la possibilità di raccogliere un buon bottino di punti con Romano, peccato per la caduta perché il suo passo gara era davvero ottimo. Purtroppo anche Pecco, dopo la scivolata nel warm up e la microfrattura al polso, non ha potuto partecipare alla gara. Torniamo a casa con due zeri ma ancora secondi in classifica. Per fortuna nostra e sfortuna di Miller, anche lui non ha raccolto punti, però si sono avvicinate tanto le Honda di Marquez e Rins. Adesso il campionato è veramente serrato nelle prime posizioni di classifica e dunque non bisognerà più perdere punti da qui in avanti”.

FRANCESCO BAGNAIA REMAINS IN THE PITS AFTER CRASHING DURING THE WARM-UP. BUT HE WON’T MISS THE SACHSENRING GP

Assen (Netherlands), June 28, 2014. Today’s Moto3 race was an enthralling and crashes-strewn contest. And in fact it did not spare even the Sky Racing Team VR46 riders, protagonists for better or for worse of one of the most unpredictable races of the season.

During the warm up, an unfortunate slide immediately puts Francesco Bagnaia out of the games, forcing him to an early withdrawal from the race. For him, a compound micro-fracture of the left wrist radius that in any case will not undermine his participation in next GP in Germany at Sachsenring.

Also Romano Fenati’s race is affected by several twists and turns. Getting away from the third row, the rider from Ascoli soon finds himself at the bottom of the list after avoiding a collision with Masbou.

Thanks to his sensational race pace, Romano manages to quickly make up for the lost ground from the 31^st position up to catching up with the top ten pack and registering the fastest lap time with 1’42.914 at the twelfth lap. But then a bit later, a crash with eight laps to go forces him to a new comeback that ends with him clinching 18th spot, with a time of 38’36 .986.

Romano Fenati remains second in the Moto3 standings, level with Alex Marquez who took a second successive Moto3™ victory after his win in Catalunya. Jack Miller’s withdrawal leaves the  gap from the top unchanged: the Australian rider is still leading the standings with 117 points, followed by Fenati and Marquez at 110.

ROMANO FENATI

“In the first lap I fell off at the last corner, I braked when I was already too far ahead and to avoid colliding with Masbou, because I thought it would have been too bad throwing him down at the first lap (he says with a smile, editor’s note), so I had to take it wide. And then I found myself in the 31^st position and so the race got uphill for me right from the start, I managed to reach the leading pack, but maybe in the heat of the race I just pushed too hard and made a mistake. I could have slowed down for a moment and stay a bit longer in the fight, to then continue with my pace. I apologized to the whole team because they did a really good job. Unfortunately the crash forced me to another comeback. I also lost the footboard and I was forced to drive with my thigh crawling on the ground, because I did not know where to put it. Now let’s look ahead to next races. The championship will be a hard-fought one, there will be times in which we will win and others in which other riders will make it. Hopefully we will be the ones winning the most (he says with a smile, editor’s note.) Next stop will be Sachsenring, a circuit that I like very much, it is a great and very technical track. Let’s hope we’ll make a good race there, also to try and earn points on direct rivals”.

FRANCESCO BAGNAIA

“This morning it went so and so. In the warm up I made a mistake, I did not see that the track was wet and I tried to push hard. I was not bending that much so I did not even realize I was losing control of the bike. Once I fell off to the ground I felt that I was injured. Luckily nothing serious. Unfortunately, these things can happen and are part of the sport. I was very sorry not to be able to take part in the race. It was quite a weird race characterized by many crashes. Romano was unlucky at the first lap, because he was having a sensational race pace. I think he could have made a great race”.

VITTORIANO GUARESCHI

“It’s been a really unlucky day for the Sky Racing Team VR46, with both riders remaining empty-handed. We have lost the opportunity to collect a good haul of points with Romano, too bad for his crash, because his race pace was really great. Unfortunately also Pecco, after the crash in the warm-up and a micro-fracture at the wrist, was unable to take part in the race. We are going back home with zero points but still second in the standings. Luckily for us and unluckily for Miller, not even him did take a single point, but Marquez and Rins pulled closer. Now the championship is a really hard-fought one at the top and therefore from now on we won’t have to lose any more points”.
