SKY RACING TEAM VR46 LA PARTENZA DALLE RETROVIE NON AIUTA ROMANO FENATI, CHE CHIUDE 16°
Silverstone, 31 agosto 2014. Weekend complicato per lo Sky Racing Team VR46, che chiude il GP di Gran Bretagna al 16° e 21° posto, rispettivamente con Romano Fenati e Francesco Bagnaia. Le posizioni perse in qualifica dopo i problemi tecnici del sabato non hanno facilitato la partenza del numero 5, che sul circuito di Silverstone non riesce ad esprimersi al massimo delle sue potenzialità. La messa a punto non regala a Bagnaia il giusto feeling: Pecco rallenta soprattutto sui rettilinei e non trova le situazioni adatte a guadagnare sorpassi e posizioni.
Il Team manager Vittoriano Guareschi: “E’ stato un weekend difficile. Abbiamo avuto dei problemi dal venerdì e abbiamo fatto di tutto per risolverli, ma questa volta non siamo riusciti a mettere i piloti nelle condizioni di esprimersi al meglio. Adesso analizzeremo quanto accaduto per superare i problemi di assetto degli ultimi due giorni. Fortunatamente oggi i primi non si sono allontanati molto perché questo è un momento in cui anche Miller, che è il primo in classifica, sta avendo qualche difficoltà e dunque si sta accorciando la classifica. D’ora in poi non dovremo perdere più le occasioni”.
ROMANO FENATI: “Ho perso il contatto con chi era davanti, mentre qui era fondamentale rimanere in gruppo per le scie, che facevano la differenza. Ho iniziato a recuperare sul finale, ma non è bastato: solo agli ultimi due giri sono riuscito ad attaccarmi al gruppo, ma ormai anche io avevo finito le gomme. Per la prossima gara cercheremo di tornare all’assetto di Indianapolis, che era quello che mi piaceva di più”.
FRANCESCO BAGNAIA: “Abbiamo avuto diversi problemi nella messa a punto, per questo non sono riuscito a spingere soprattutto sul rettilineo. Il passo non era quello giusto e non riuscivo a fare i sorpassi che sarebbero serviti a guadagnare posizioni. Ripartiamo dal grande lavoro di squadra di sempre con l’obiettivo di raggiungere le posizioni che meritiamo”.

STARTING FROM THE BACK ROWS DOESN’T HELP ROMANO FENATI, WHO CLOSES THE RACE IN 16th
SET-UP PROBLEMS FOR FRANCESCO BAGNAIA: 21st PLACE FOR HIM
Silverstone, August 31, 2014. A complicated weekend for the Sky Racing Team VR46, which closed the British Grand Prix in 16th and 21st place respectively for Romano Fenati and Francesco Bagnaia. The positions lost during Saturday’s qualifying after some technical problems have not facilitated the start of the race for the number 5, who at the Silverstone circuit hasn’t been able to express himself to his fullest potential.
Bagnaia didn’t get the right feeling with the set-up: Pecco slowed down especially on the homestretch and didn’t find the suitable situations to overtake and gain positions.
The team manager Vittoriano Guareschi: “It has been a difficult weekend. We have had problems since Friday and we have done everything we could to solve them, but this time we haven’t been able to help the riders give their best. Now we are going to analyze what happened to overcome the set-up problems of the last two days. Fortunately, today the first riders haven’t put too much distance behind them; even Miller, who is first in the standings, is having some difficulty and therefore the gaps in the rankings are shortening. From now on, we must not lose other opportunities.”
ROMANO FENATI: “I lost contact with the riders ahead of me, and in this race it was essential to remain in group to keep on the heels. As a result, in the homestretches the other riders regained some positions. I started to pull back some positions at the end, but it wasn’t enough: only in the last two laps I was able to stick to the group, but my tires were already worn. For the next race we will try to come back to the set-up used in Indianapolis, which was the one I liked the most.”
FRANCESCO BAGNAIA: “We have had several set-up problems, so I haven’t been able to push hard, especially in the homestretch. I didn’t have the right pace and I wasn’t able to overtake and gain positions. We will start again with the great teamwork we have always done, with the aim of reaching the positions we deserve.”
