SKY RACING TEAM VR46 SESTO TEMPO PER FENATI, DECIMO BAGNAIA AL TERMINE DELLA SECONDA SESSIONE

Le Mans (Francia), 16 maggio, 2014. Parte bene a Le Mans il weekend dello Sky Racing Team VR46, che conclude la prima giornata di prove libere tra i primi dieci nella classifica dei tempi.

Romano Fenati non scivola mai dalle prime posizioni chiudendo la seconda sessione al sesto posto con 1’43.752 e migliorando il tempo rispetto alle prove libere del mattino, in cui aveva registrato il tempo di 1’44.474. Primo posto del pilota azzurro, invece, nella top speed: a pari merito con Hanika, Romano segna una velocità massima di 217.3. “Abbiamo fatto un grande passo in avanti dopo la FP1  spiega Fenati -, c’è qualche problemino sul davanti ma lo risolveremo di sicuro al più presto”.

In netto miglioramento anche la prestazione di Francesco Bagnaia, che rispetto alla prima sessione avanza di nove posizioni terminando la giornata decimo con 1’43.987 (1’45.678 il tempo delle prime prove libere). “Ho cercato di spingere di più senza pensare troppo ai tempi, cercando solo di guidare bene – racconta Pecco -. Sono contento perché sono arrivato a questo risultato senza riferimenti davanti. Domani partiremo sicuramente da una base migliore in vista delle qualifiche”.

Il team manager Vittoriano Guareschi spiega le novità tecniche apportate dopo il GP di Jerez: “Abbiamo provato un forcellone con una conformazione e un disegno differenti. L’abbiamo testato la settimana scorsa ad Almeria in occasione dei test team Ktm e l’abbiamo portato qui a Le Mans per valutare la durata delle gomme, perché sulla performance e sul giro secco non fa differenza. Quello che cerchiamo di capire è, appunto, se con questa introduzione migliori la durata della gomma. Siamo costantemente lì davanti e ci stiamo abituando a vedere Romano in alto, anche se la stagione è lunga. Pecco, invece,  inizia più lentamente, ma nel corso del weekend cresce anche lui fino ad arrivare a dei buoni risultati. È andato forte già al primo giorno in pista, ma sappiamo che la sofferenza finisce sempre la domenica all’ultimo giro”.

SIXTH LAP TIME FOR FENATI, TENTH SPOT FOR BAGNAIA AT THE END OF THE SECOND FREE PRACTICE SESSION

Le Mans (France), May 16, 2014. Good start at Le Mans for the Sky Racing Team VR46 concluding the first day of free practice sessions in the timesheet top ten.

Romano Fenati keeps hold of the top positions closing the second free practice session in sixth position with 1’43.752 and even improving his time compared to the morning session when he had recorded a lap time of 1’44.474. First spot within the top speed for the Italian rider: Romano tied with Hanika and recorded 217.3 top speed. “We made a big step forward after the FP1  -explains Fenati – we have some little problems on the front but we will certainly solve them as soon as possible.”

Also Francesco Bagnaia’s performance reported a clear improvement as he climbed up nine positions from the first session, thus clinching tenth spot with 1’43.987 (1’45.678 lap time of the first free practice session). “I tried to push harder without thinking too much about lap time, just trying to ride well – tells Pecco -. I’m happy because I got such a result without any reference in front. Tomorrow we will definitely have a better base to proceed from ahead of qualifying”.

Team manager Vittoriano Guareschi explains the technical innovations made after the Jerez GP: “We tried a swingarm with a different shape and design. We tested it last week in Almeria on the occasion of the KTM team testing and brought it here at Le Mans to assess the durability of the tires, because it makes no difference over the performance and over a single lap. We are trying to understand whether this new swingarm does actually improve  tire endurance. We are constantly standing there in front and we are getting used to seeing Romano at the top, even if the season is still long. Pecco, instead, usually starts more slowly, but over the weekend he also grows up to the point of getting good results. He did well on the very first day on the track but everyone knows that only at the end of the Sunday race we can start breathing again”.
