Moto3 – FENATI REGALA UN SOGNO ALL’ITALIA: AL MUGELLOIL GP È DELLO SKY RACING TEAM VR46

Mugello, 1 giugno, 2014. Il Gran Premio d’Italia finisce con il tricolore sul gradino più alto del podio grazie allo Sky Racing Team VR46, con Romano Fenati che commuove il suo pubblico con una vittoria da sogno. Al Mugello il pilota azzurro fa una gara stellare: parte dalla seconda fila e lotta fino all’ultima curva al comando con Vinales e Rins, vincendo all’ultimo secondo sul rettilineo. Tutto con le nuove livree che, per la sola gara del Mugello, hanno cambiato veste con i colori dell’Italia, in onore al GP di casa. Fenati adesso è a -5 dalla testa della classifica.

“Pensavo di non farcela più e invece alla fine sono uscito dalla scia veramente forte e ho vinto all’ultimo respiro – il commento di Fenati -. Era importante fare un buon risultato proprio oggi, la vittoria qui al Mugello è una cosa veramente fantastica, ascoltare l’inno di Mameli in Italia ha un sapore unico. C’è la mia famiglia e tutti i miei amici, sono venuti da Ascoli per sostenermi e ora sono qui a festeggiare con me, sono davvero contento. E’ una grande emozione vedere Valentino inginocchiarsi davanti a me, ma in verità sarei io a doverlo fare davanti a lui. Io suo erede? Vado avanti gara per gara, giro dopo giro, curva dopo curva. Adesso è presto per dirlo. Aspettiamo qualche anno.

“Romano è stato bravissimo a gestire una gara difficile e a tirarsi fuori dai pericoli nel gruppo che cercava di portarsi avanti – commenta a fine gara il team manager Vittoriano Guareschi -. È una vittoria molto importante, arrivata al termine di una grande gara”. Costretto a interrompere il Gran Premio Francesco Bagnaia, che a nove giri dalla fine ha chiuso la sua gara per un errore in corsa. “Mi dispiace – aggiunge Guareschi -, soprattutto perché avrebbe potuto continuare a correre fino a raggiungere posizioni importanti dopo una bella partenza”.

Mugello, June 1, 2014. The Moto3™ race at the Gran Premio d’Italia TIM concludes with the Italian flag flying on the highest step of the podium thanks to the Sky Racing Team VR46 with Romano Fenati who moves his home public with a dream victory. On the Mugello track, the talented Italian rider makes a stellar race: starting from the second row, the teenager was able to hold his nerve and fight until the very last corner in the lead pack together with Rins and Vinales, winning at the very last second on the home straight. All that whilst sporting a special red, white and green Italian livery, in honor of the home GP race. With this triumph, Fenati is back in the running for clinching the World Championship title: he is now only 5 points away from the top.

“I thought I could no longer make it and then in the end I left the trail, push hard and clinched victory at the very last gasp – commented Fenati-. It was important to get a good result today, the victory here at Mugello is a really great thing, listening to the Mameli national anthem here in Italy has a unique sound. There is my family here and all my friends, they all came from Ascoli to support me and now they are here to celebrate with me, I’m really happy. It is a great thrill to see Valentino kneeling in front of me, but the truth is it is me that should have knelt in front of him. Am I his heir? I am riding race by race, lap after lap, turn after turn. Now it is too early to tell. Let’s wait a couple of years and then we’ll see”.

“Romano was very good at managing a difficult race and get himself out of danger from the pack that was trying to move forward – commented team manager Vittoriano Guareschi after the race-. It is a very important victory, the result of an awesome race”.

Francesco Bagnaia pulled off with a technical issue midrace and ended his race with nine laps to go. “I’m sorry – added Guareschi – especially because he could have kept running until reaching top positions after a good start”.
