MOTO 3: PROBLEMI TECNICI PER FENATI, CHE RIMONTA 14 POSIZIONI IN 3 GIRI MA CADE POCO DOPO
Sachsenring (Germania) 13 luglio 2014. Il Gran Premio di Germania frena provvisoriamente la corsa dello Sky Racing Team VR46, che continua a essere ottimista per le prossime tappe nonostante l’esito del weekend al Sachsenring. Romano Fenati, partito dalla 25a posizione dopo la sfortunata qualifica di ieri – in cui non è riuscito a fare il tempo dopo l’interruzione della sessione per pioggia – rimonta 14 posizioni in 3 giri, ma poi si stacca dal gruppo per una caduta. Romano approfitterà della pausa estiva per recuperare dalla lieve contusione riscontrata alla schiena.
Passati due giorni a testare la reazione del polso alla guida, arriva la decisione di non correre per Francesco Bagnaia. Pecco scende in pista per il warm up ma il dolore al polso, ancora infiammato, rimanda la corsa al prossimo Gran Premio.
“Oggi non è stata una giornata positiva per lo Sky Racing Team VR46 sotto il profilo dei risultati – spiega il team manager Vittoriano Guareschi – ma, visto ciò che è accaduto, in realtà è una giornata che lascia intatto il nostro ottimismo e ci restituisce grande entusiasmo in vista dei prossimi GP. La vera buona notizia è che Romano sta bene, e che già da Indianapolis potremo lavorare senza nessun impedimento fisico sia con Romano che con Pecco.
Prima della caduta, Romano era stato protagonista di una rimonta straordinaria, scalando oltre dieci posizioni, e dava l’idea che non sarebbe finita lì. E’ un nuovo segnale della grande competitività delle nostre moto e dei nostri piloti e del buon lavoro che il team sta svolgendo. Ed è un risultato che ci inorgoglisce ed entusiasma, perché questo è il primo anno di vita del team Sky, e gli aspetti da mettere a punto sono inevitabilmente moltissimi. Ma nessuno poteva pensare che avremmo vinto 3 gare e a metà della stagione saremmo stati nelle prime posizioni della classifica piloti. Lavoriamo per crescere e migliorarci sotto tutti gli aspetti: sportivo, progettuale, organizzativo.
Ogni giorno affrontiamo le tante variabili che si presentano per costruire un team vincente, e ciò che abbiamo raccolto sin qui è già straordinario. E sono sinceramente convinto che il meglio deve ancora venire”.
ROMANO FENATI: “E’ stato un weekend difficile in cui purtroppo abbiamo avuto dei problemi tecnici importanti. Abbiamo perso dei momenti fondamentali per settare bene la moto e, di conseguenza, abbiamo perso anche il tempo in fase di qualifica perché non eravamo pronti con l’assetto ideale. È stata una gara difficile che si è conclusa con una caduta. Sono dispiaciuto perché questi erano dei punti abbastanza importanti, ma il campionato è ancora lungo e speriamo di fare meglio”.
FRANCESCO BAGNAIA: “Abbiamo deciso di non partecipare alla corsa perché non valeva la pena rischiare di compromettere la fase di riabilitazione. A Indianapolis sarò sicuramente al 100%”.

BAGNAIA DOESN’T RACE: AFTER THE WARM-UP, THE DECISION TO PRESERVE HIS WRIST
Sachsenring (Germany), July 13, 2014. The Grand Prix of Germany temporarily slows the race of the Sky Racing Team VR46, who remain optimistic about next stages despite the outcome of the weekend at the Sachsenring.
Romano Fenati, who started from 25th position after yesterday’s unlucky qualifying – in which he couldn’t set the time after the rain interrupted the session – gained 14 positions in 3 laps, but then he left the pack after a crash. Romano will take advantage of the summer break to recover from the slight contusion on his back.
After two days passed testing the reaction of his wrist during driving, the team decided that it was better for Francesco Bagnaia not to race. Pecco went on track for the warm-up, but the pain on his wrist, still inflamed, postponed his race for the next Grand Prix.
“Today the Sky Racing Team VR46 didn’t get good results,” explains the team manager Vittoriano Guareschi “but, given the events, we can remain optimistic and keep our great enthusiasm for the upcoming GPs.
The really good news is that Romano is fine, and that starting from Indianapolis we will be able to work without any physical impediment for both Pecco and Romano. Before the fall, Romano had been the protagonist of an extraordinary comeback, climbing more than ten positions, and it seemed that it was only the beginning.
This is a further sign of the high competitiveness of our bikes and our riders, and of the good job that our team is doing. And it is a result that makes us very proud and excited, because this is just the first year for the Sky team, and we still have to fine tune many aspects. But no one could have ever imagined that we would win 3 races and that in the middle of the season we would be in the top positions of the riders’ standings. We are working to grow and improve from an athletic, planning and organizational point of view.
Every day we face the many variables that you have to deal with if you want to build a winning team, and what we have reached so far is already extraordinary. And honestly, I believe that the best is yet to come.”
ROMANO FENATI: “This weekend has been very hard, because unfortunately we had some major technical problems. We lost some key opportunities to set well the bike and, by consequence, we have also lost time in the qualifying session because we didn’t have the ideal set-up. It was a tough race that ended with a crash of which we are going to check the causes. I’m disappointed because these were some quite important points, but the championship is still a long way to go and we hope to do better.”
FRANCESCO BAGNAIA: “We decided not to race, now I will continue my rehabilitation in view of Indianapolis, where I will definitely be at my 100%.”
