Venerdì 22 Marzo – Prove

Il Team Snipers torna in Europa dopo la prima gara in Qatar, ritrovandosi sul circuito di Portimao per il Gran Premio di Portogallo

Questo venerdì, la prima sessione è stata cancellata a causa delle condizioni impraticabili del circuito; condizioni dettate dalla sporcizia rimasta a causa del meteo dei giorni precedenti.
La seconda sessione del weekend, che quindi diventa la prima, segna l’esordio in pista di Hamad Al-Sahouti, che sostituisce l’infortunato David Almansa
Un esordio faticoso per Hamad, che non riesce a fare un tempo provvisorio sufficiente per la partecipazione alle qualifiche.

Dall’altro lato del Box, Matteo Bertelle mostra invece subito grande velocità e fiducia, chiudendo questa prima sessione in terza posizione.

Le parole di Matteo dopo la sessione: ”Sono stupito di essere andato così veloce perchè la pista continua ad essere abbastanza sporca, però sento bene la moto, la velocità non manca.”

Sabato 23 Marzo – Prove e Qualifiche

Il secondo giorno segna delle P2 positive con un meteo più stabile rispetto al giorno precedente.

Al-Sahouti riesce a migliorare notevolmente il suo tempo, centrando l’obiettivo di qualificarsi per poter partecipare al resto del Weekend.
Bertelle continua a tenere il suo buon ritmo e fiducia sulla moto, riuscendo a qualificarsi direttamente per le Q2

In Q1 Al-Sahouti trova l’abilità e la giusta velocità per mettere dietro di lui due piloti, centrando la casella numero 24 in griglia per la gara.
Una leggera difficoltà per Bertelle, che a causa del traffico rimane leggermente arretrato, chiudendo le Q2 in 12esima posizione

Domenica 24 Marzo – Gara

La gara parte con molta intensità, con Bertelle che riesce a fare subito un buono scatto e portandosi nel gruppo nei primi 11, creando del Gap con gli inseguitori in pochi giri
Al-Sahouti riesce a mantenere un buon ritmo giro dopo giro, riuscendo a seguire i piloti che lo precedono

Durante la gara, il gruppo dei primi si sgrana, facendo creare dei distacchi e mantenendo Matteo nel gruppo tra la posizione numero 9 e 14

La gara si conclude con due posizioni recuperate da Hamad, che conclude in 22esima posizione, nonostante le difficoltà legate al debutto

Gli ultimi due giri mettono in a dura prova Matteo, a causa del degrado delle gomme improvviso, portandolo a dover combattere con tutto il gruppo che stava riuscendo a guidare, tagliando il traguardo in 12esima posizione

Commenti dei piloti

Bertelle si ritiene soddisfatto dal weekend Portoghese “Sto portando a casa dati molto positivi e sono contento della moto, ora dobbiamo lavorare sulla gestione della gara.”

Il debutto di Hamad è come un sogno, anche se con qualche difficoltà: “La gara è stata abbastanza difficile anche se mi sono molto goduto il poter gareggiare con gli altri. Quando la gomma si è consumata non ho potuto fare molto, ma spero di poter fare meglio in futuro!”

Friday, March 22nd – Practices

The Team Snipers returns to Europe after the first race in Qatar, finding itself at the Portimao circuit for the Portuguese Grand Prix.

This Friday, the first session was canceled due to the impracticable conditions of the circuit; conditions dictated by the dirt left due to the weather of the previous days.

The second session of the weekend, which therefore becomes the first, marks the debut on track of Hamad Al-Sahouti, who replaces the injured David Almansa.

A challenging debut for Hamad, who fails to set a provisional time sufficient for participation in the qualifiers.

On the other side of the Box, Matteo Bertelle instead shows immediately great speed and confidence, closing this first session in third position.

Matteo’s words after the session: “I’m surprised I went so fast because the track continues to be quite dirty, but I feel good on the bike, speed is not lacking.”

Saturday, March 23rd – Practices and Qualifying

The second day sees positive P2s with more stable weather compared to the previous day.

Al-Sahouti manages to significantly improve his time, achieving the goal of qualifying to participate in the rest of the weekend. Bertelle continues to maintain his good pace and confidence on the bike, managing to qualify directly for the Q2.

In Q1, Al-Sahouti finds the skill and the right speed to overtake two riders, securing the 24th grid slot for the race.

A slight difficulty for Bertelle, who, due to traffic, remains slightly behind, finishing Q2 in 12th position.

Sunday, March 24th – Race

The race starts with a lot of intensity, with Bertelle immediately making a good start and moving up into the top 11, creating a gap with the chasers in just a few laps.

Al-Sahouti manages to maintain a good pace lap after lap, keeping up with the riders ahead of him.

During the race, the leading group breaks away, creating gaps and keeping Matteo within the group between positions 9 and 14.

The race concludes with Hamad gaining two positions, finishing in 22nd place despite the difficulties of his debut.

The last two laps put Matteo to the test due to sudden tire degradation, forcing him to battle with the entire group he had been leading, crossing the finish line in 12th place.

Bertelle is pleased with the Portuguese weekend. “I’m bringing home very positive data and I’m happy with the bike; now we need to work on race management.”

Hamad’s debut is like a dream, albeit with some difficulties. “The race was quite tough, although I really enjoyed being able to compete with the others. When the tire wore out, there wasn’t much I could do, but I hope to do better in the future!”
