SKY RACING TEAM: BAGNAIA DA RECORD SFIORA IL PODIO, FENATI COSTRETTO AL RITIRO PER L’ELETTRONICA.

Le Mans, 18 maggio, 2014. Francesco Bagnaia trova il suo miglior risultato in carriera sul circuito di Le Mans, dove conquista il quarto posto con lo Sky Racing Team VR46 al termine di una gara combattuta, in cui il pilota ha segnato il record di pista con il giro più veloce (il tredicesimo) in 1’42.636. Continua, all’interno del team, il progetto di crescita dei giovani piloti italiani, con un altro talento che riesce a trovare l’occasione giusta per emergere tra i primi in classifica.

“E’ sicuramente la gara più bella che abbia mai fatto – racconta Pecco -. Il quarto posto è sempre un ottimo risultato, soprattutto nel Mondiale. All’ultimo giro ci è mancato veramente poco affinché  arrivassi sul podio, anche se ho rischiato di finire a terra e di non prendere neanche un punto. Alla fine sono riuscito a gestire la situazione rimanendo concentrato e ho raggiunto un buon risultato”.

Romano Fenati è stato costretto a interrompere la gara a cinque giri dalla fine: “Si è dovuto fermare per un problema di natura elettronica – spiega il team manager Vittoriano Guareschi -. L’aspetto positivo è che anche qui, come a Jerez, entrambi i piloti hanno dimostrato di essere pronti per lottare nel gruppo di testa. Se Romano non si fosse fermato sarebbe salito sicuramente sul podio. Sono molto contento per il quarto posto di Pecco perché finalmente è riuscito a tirare fino all’ultima curva, arrivando quasi al podio, cosa che ad esempio non era successa a Jerez dove aveva perso concentrazione agli ultimi giri. Stiamo facendo un buon lavoro”.

“Sono dispiaciuto per il risultato – commenta Romano -,  anche perché dopo una posizione di partenza difficile (quarta fila, ndr) sono riuscito a portarmi avanti fino a raggiungere il gruppetto di testa. Se non ci fossero stati problemi riscontrati avrei potuto continuare gli ultimi cinque giri con lo slancio giusto trovato nel corso della gara e chiudere tra i primi”.

FENATI RETIRES WITH ELECTRONIC ISSUES

Le Mans, May 18, 2014. Francesco Bagnaia got his best ever career result on the Le Mans track where he clinched fourth spot with the Sky Racing Team VR46 at the end of a hard-fought race, in which the rider hit the track record with the fastest lap (the thirteenth) at 1’42.636.

The youth development project involving Italian riders within the team keeps going with another talent seizing the right opportunity to impose himself amongst the top five in the standings.

“It’s definitely the best race I’ve ever done – says Pecco -. The fourth place is always a good result, especially in the World Championship. On the last lap, I actually missed the podium by a hair’s breadth, even if I nearly fell off to the ground and thus I might have grabbed not even a single point.

Eventually I was able to handle it and stay focused so that I could achieve a good result”.

Romano Fenati was forced to retire from the race five laps from the end because of electronics issues: “He had to stop due to electronics issues – explains team manager Vittoriano Guareschi -. The good thing is that here, as in Jerez, both drivers have proven to be ready to fight in the lead pack. If Romano Fenati had not stopped, he would have definitely stepped on the podium. I’m very happy for Pecco’s fourth place because he finally managed to push hard until the very last corner almost reaching the podium, something that had not happened in Jerez where he had lost his concentration in the last laps. We’re doing a great job”.

“I’m sorry for the result – says Romano – also because after a difficult starting position (fourth row, editor’s note) I managed to get ahead until catching up with the lead pack. If there had not been electronics issues I could have run the last five laps with the right momentum I had been gathering during the race and finished in the top”.
